Happy Friday,
This week, I did something I've been putting off since January…I took a day off from my Elvance.
I'd seen people online talk about how beneficial it is to take ‘medication holidays’ and thought it was worth trying. So, I gave it a go on Sunday. I felt okay on the day, a bit foggy/more stupid feeling than usual, super tired but good (five coffees helped)
Monday was a different story.
I woke up feeling like I hadn't slept. Extremely snappy with everyone around me and for the first time in months, I actually felt the medication kick in. If anything, it’s proof they’re working in the background, I guess.
Not sure what to make of it yet, slightly concerned if I’m honest. I didn’t think I was that ‘locked in’ to them.
If you’ve had a break and felt like this, or know of ways to not feel like that - reply and share your experience, please.
The other thing I've been playing with is trying to ‘aim my hyperfocus’ rather than just being navigated by it. I’ve come to realise I get my best work under extreme pressure, so I've been manufacturing it.
In my business, I’ve been taking on retained projects (part payment upfront) adding some extra pressure and a tighter timeline. Seems to be working well, for the business and me.
Plus, I’ve been even more selective with who and what I spend my time on… prioritising things that light me up, instead of draining me.
Still figuring it out. What do you do to create pressure for yourself when there isn't any?
Oh, and I've taken up golf.
Went to the driving range once. So then, obviously, I bought all the equipment immediately. Played a full round Sunday and genuinely loved it.
We'll see how long this one lasts (hopefully a while)
Still waiting on my GP to take over my shared care agreement, seven weeks and counting. Had a ton of great advice from everyone on TikTok - so that’s my mission this week.
That deserves its own edition….more on that next week.
Enjoy the weekend, see you next Friday.
Alex
